African Alliance, a prominent investment group in Eswatini, is set to expand its footprint in the local hospitality sector with plans to build a hotel in Malkerns.
This was revealed by S’thofeni Ginindza, Partner at African Alliance, during the Revenue Blueprint Masterclass hosted by A Peculiar People over the weekend. Ginindza highlighted the group’s ongoing commitment to innovation and large-scale development in the country.
“We are extending Malkerns Square by adding another 150 apartments, and a hotel is coming soon,” he said.
He emphasized that the project would cater not just to local demand but also to international visitors, underscoring the strategic vision behind the development.
The planned hotel is part of African Alliance’s broader strategy to transform Malkerns into a hub for both residential and commercial activity. According to Ginindza, the success of Malkerns Square, which is now fully occupied, demonstrates the potential for further development in the area.
“When we first embarked on the Malkerns Square project, there was skepticism about its viability. People asked, ‘Why Malkerns?’ What they didn’t understand is that in business, you don’t create something because you see it; you create something because you’re establishing it for the first time. The success of Malkerns Square proves that vision and determination can overcome initial doubts,” he said.
Ginindza urged attendees to adopt a mindset of bold ambition when pursuing business opportunities.
“In Africa, there’s a lot of businesses, but very few are operating on a scale that generates significant revenue. Out of all the businesses in Africa, only 345 generate over a billion dollars in annual revenue. Compare that to China, which has over 1500 businesses at that level,” he noted.
He encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to think beyond local borders, saying, “When you create a business in Eswatini, you’re not creating it just for the local market. You’re creating it for the region, the continent, and the global community. That’s the mindset we need to adopt to make an impact.”
With the hotel project in the pipeline, African Alliance continues to demonstrate its commitment to fostering economic growth in Eswatini. Ginindza expressed confidence in the potential of the country’s business environment and urged others to seize the opportunities available.
“As we expand Malkerns Square, we’re building for a future where Eswatini is recognized not just for its small size but for its big ambitions. This hotel will bring in visitors from across the globe, proving that with the right vision, anything is possible,” he concluded.
