PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and a number of other brands operating in the country have made it into this year’s Top 500 Most Valuable Brands.
The Global 500 is an Annual Report of the world’s most valuable and strongest brands – conducted by Brand Finance; the world’s leading brand valuation consultancy. Brand Finance aims to bridge the gap between marketing and finance.
For over 25 years, the brand valuation consultancy has helped companies and organizations of all types connect their brands to the bottom line.
Brand Finance values brands using several metrics, including brand investment, brand equity, brand performance, and forecast revenue.
In simple terms, brand value is the net present value of the estimated future cash flows attributable to a brand.
Notable companies that make the Global 500 2023 list, and operate in the country include Coca-Cola, DHL, PwC, Toyota, and TotalEnergies.
For this year’s annual report, PwC is ranked number 73, which indicates an improvement, as it was ranked 83 the previous year. PwC has a brand value of around E425 billion.
Coca-Cola, a beverage company that operates in more than 200 countries is ranked 48 globally. The beverages company did however slump given that in 2022 they were ranked 44. Their brand value is estimated at around E578 billion.
DHL on the other hand sits at number 166 in this year’s ranking, an improvement considering that it was ranked 177 in 2022.
Toyota is the best-placed brand operating in the country, as it sits at number 19 globally. As impressive as their rank is, they have also slumped as they were ranked 12th globally last year.
TotalEnergies has also just broken into the top 100, as they are ranked 92. The energy company was ranked 128 last year which also demonstrates significant growth.
The most globally valued brand according to the report is Amazon. The company has retaken the top spot as the world’s most valuable brand despite its brand value falling 15% this year from US$350.3 billion to US$299.3 billion.
Amazon was previously the world’s most valuable brand from 2018 to 2020. Brand Finance notes that Amazon’s brand has fallen by over US$50 billion this year.
The second most globally valued brand is Apple, followed by Google at number three. Worth noting though is that Google is ranked as the world’s strongest brand.
Overall, the Tech sector is the most valuable sector in Brand Finance’s Global 500 ranking, with an overall brand value of at least US$1.2 trillion, accounting for around 15% of the total value of the rankings.
